• The California Youth Advocacy Network (CYAN) has supported California colleges in adopting smoke/tobacco-free policies since 1998 through funding from the California Department of Public Health Tobacco Prevention Program.

  • In 2002, students created COUGH, a statewide advocacy movement promoting healthier, smoke/tobacco-free campuses. CYAN publishes an annual California College and University Smoke/Tobacco-Free Policy Report Card reviewing public and private colleges statewide.

  • The report focuses on policies addressing commercial tobacco and nicotine products including cigarettes, cigars, hookah, smokeless tobacco, and e-cigarettes.

  • The goal is to educate campus leaders and encourage adoption of comprehensive tobacco-free policies that improve campus health and wellness.
