Education

Educating the campus community about tobacco is important during all phases of policy development, including adoption, implementation, and enforcement. Education is also central to promoting tobacco cessation on campus.

There are many ways to educate campus communities about tobacco including campus outreach, town hall meetings, presentations, written materials, and web resources. Tobacco issues on campus can be examined through various lenses, for example, tobacco can be discussed as an environmental issue or a social justice issue. Health effects of tobacco, marketing of tobacco, and new and emerging tobacco products represent other topics for education.
