The California Youth Advocacy Network (CYAN) will be hosting a virtual Smoke and Tobacco-Free College Conference on May 4th and 5th from 9:00am – 12:00pm.
SCHEDULE
May 4th @ 9:00am – 12:00pm
The first day of the statewide conference will focus on young adult college student substance use and mental health. Sessions will highlight current tobacco, marijuana, and other substance use among college students; the impact of poor mental health on substance use; and strategies colleges are using to supporting overall student wellness.
May 5th @ 9:00am – 12:00pm
Day 2 of the Conference will be dedicated to advancing smoke and tobacco-free policies at California Community Colleges. Participants will hear from a research team on what factors contribute to successful smoke/tobacco-free policy adoption on community college campuses. Following this session, a panel of representatives from campuses and community partners will discuss what challenges continue to exist when addressing tobacco use on campus and strategies they have used to advance smoke and tobacco-free policies. The Conference will conclude with strategic planning breakout sessions for advocates to discuss how to collectively work towards a smoke/tobacco-free community college system.
